ZIPLINING WITH KIDS: WHAT TO KNOW

Ziplining with your family is a great way to form memories that’ll last a lifetime. It’s an exhilarating and unique experience that will wow you and your kids. Ziplining requires no experience so it is for children and adults, but there are some things you should know before your trip. Read on to learn more about ziplining with your child.

Choose an Appropriate Zip Line for your child’s age and Ability

All zipline courses have different rules and restrictions. Be sure to look for those before you book your zip line trip, and reach out to the staff with any questions or concerns. There’s usually information on age limits, weight limits, and what you’ll need to bring.

For example, with Koloa Zipline on Kauai – zippers have to be at least seven years old to ride and be accompanied by an adult. There’s a max weight of 280 lbs. Also, if the child is too light they’ll have to be paired with another person, which can sometimes even be an instructor.

Teach your kids how to stay safe while ziplining

Make sure they pay attention to the Zipline workers. Fortunately, when you’re ziplining with Koloa Zipline, they offer a “ground school” in order to show guests what to do and how to be as safe as possible.

Make sure you and your children wear the proper gear. A helmet is a necessity, which most courses provide. You and your family should wear the appropriate clothing to avoid brush burns from the harness. Closed-toed shoes are also a must!  Remember to wear sunscreen and bug spray as well to ensure you are as comfortable as possible.
